Agia Irini ist ein Dorf, in dem sich das Kloster Agia Irini aus dem Jahr 1362 befindet.1995 wurde das Kloster mit dem Europa Nostra European Preservation and Renovation for Architectural Monuments Award ausgezeichnet.
.Heutzutage strotzt es vor Spiritualität, einer Gemeinschaft von zehn Nonnen, die sich mit Hagiographie, Weberei und Stickerei beschäftigen. Im Kloster gibt es auch ein kirchliches Museum.
.Chromonastiri ist ein Dorf, in dem man die prächtige Villa Claudio besuchen sollte, die auch "Konaki" genannt wird, da sie während der osmanischen Herrschaft als offizielle Residenz diente, und andere venezianische Gebäude.Sie werden auch die byzantinischen Kirchen Panagia Kera und Agios Eftichios mit Fresken aus dem 11. und 14. Jahrhundert sehen, die als die ältesten bekannten Wandmalereien auf Kreta gelten.

Agia Irini is a village where there is the homonym monastery of Agia Irini dating to 1362. In 1995, the monastery was awarded the Europa Nostra European Preservation and Renovation for Architectural Monuments Award.
Nowadays it brims with spirituality being a community of ten nuns, occupied with hagiography, weaving and embroidery. In the monastery, there is also an ecclesiastical museum.
Chromonastiri is a village where one should visit the magnificent Villa Claudio, called also “Konaki”, as it served as an official residence during the Ottoman domination, and other Venetian Buildings. You will also see the Byzantine churches of Panagia Kera and Agios Eftichios with frescoes from the 11th and 14th century, which are considered as the oldest known murals in Crete.
Chromonastiri was awarded the "Cleaner Organized Traditional Settlement" award by the Committee for Tourism Promotion of the Prefecture of Rethymno.

A little further on, at Roussospiti, a wonderful Venetian fountain preserved from the 17th century and the Byzantine church of the Virgin Mary with very interesting iconography.
Right to the church you will see the most characteristic Venetian houses that are preserved in the village. The route from here leads to the small, green gorge of Mili and climbs up to the village Chromonastiri, where the magnificent Villa Clodio is situated, hosting the Military Museum.
