Light & Water" Solo Painting Exhibition von Frederick J. Fitham im Haus der Kultur in Rethymno Frederick J. Fitham präsentiert seine neue Einzelausstellung mit dem Titel "LIGHT & WATER" im Rethymno House of Culture, vom 6. August bis 23. August 2026 um 20:30 Uhr. Die Ausstellung zeigt Ölgemälde, Aquarelle und Stiche, die seinen aktuellen künstlerischen Stil ausdrücken. Diese Sammlung beleuchtet die kontinuierlichen Themen und künstlerischen Verschiebungen in seiner Arbeit im Laufe der Zeit. Zentrales Ausstellungsstück ist "Homage to Hokusai", ein modernes künstlerisches Gespräch mit der berühmten "Great Wave" des japanischen Meisters. Bevor er dauerhaft nach Griechenland zog, studierte Herr Fitham an der Cheltenham School of Art und am St Paul’s College (Bristol University). Danach arbeitete er als Kunstlehrer an der St Crispin’s School in der Nähe von London – eine Erfahrung, die seine künstlerische Identität tief prägte. Seit seiner Ansiedlung in Rethymno sind die Stadt und die wunderschöne kretische Landschaft die wichtigste Inspiration für seine künstlerische Reise. Als figurativer Künstler ist Herr Fitham fasziniert davon, wie Licht dem, was wir sehen, Form und Volumen verleiht - Landschaften, Meere und Himmel. Wasser mit seiner endlosen Bewegung bietet unzählige Herausforderungen, die seine Kreativität nähren. "Kunst ist Kommunikation", bemerkt er. "Wenn der Betrachter die Aufregung spürt, die mich dazu gebracht hat, ein Bild zu malen, dann habe ich mein Ziel erreicht." Der Prozess ist zutiefst persönlich. Wie W. H. Beecher sagte: "Jeder Künstler taucht seinen Pinsel in seine eigene Seele und malt seine eigene Natur in seine Bilder." Herr Fitham hat einen beeindruckenden internationalen Hintergrund. 2007 wurde er zur Biennale von Florenz und 2021 zur Biblioteca Angelica nach Rom eingeladen. 2022 gewann er den ersten Preis auf der internationalen PREMIO CAPITOLIUM-Ausstellung in Rom. Seine Gemälde und Stiche sind in Privatsammlungen in Griechenland, Italien, Großbritannien, Frankreich, den Niederlanden, Deutschland und den USA zu finden. Es ist seine 14. Einzelausstellung. Es ist eine offene Einladung für die Zuschauer, eine Welt zu erkunden, in der die Landschaft, das Meer und die menschliche Erfahrung in einer schönen Geschichte zusammenkommen.

Light & Water" Solo Painting Exhibition by Frederick J. Fitham at the House of Culture in Rethymno Frederick J. Fitham presents his new solo painting exhibition titled "LIGHT & WATER" at the Rethymno House of Culture, from August 6 to August 23, 2026, at 20:30. The exhibition features oil paintings, watercolors, and engravings that express his current artistic style. This collection highlights the continuous themes and artistic shifts in his work over time. The central piece of the exhibition is "Homage to Hokusai," a modern artistic conversation with the famous "Great Wave" by the Japanese master. Before moving permanently to Greece, Mr. Fitham studied at the Cheltenham School of Art and St Paul’s College (Bristol University). He then worked as an art teacher at St Crispin’s School near London—an experience that deeply shaped his artistic identity. Since settling in Rethymno, the city and the beautiful Cretan landscape have become the main inspiration for his artistic journey. As a figurative artist, Mr. Fitham is fascinated by how light gives shape and volume to what we see—landscapes, seas, and skies. Water, with its endless movement, provides countless challenges that feed his creativity. "Art is communication," he notes. "If the viewer feels the excitement that pushed me to paint a picture, then I have reached my goal. The process is deeply personal. As W.H. Beecher said: 'Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.'" Mr. Fitham has an impressive international background. He was invited to the Florence Biennale in 2007 and the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome in 2021. In 2022, he won First Prize at the international PREMIO CAPITOLIUM exhibition in Rome. His paintings and engravings can be found in private collections across Greece, Italy, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the USA. This is his 14th solo exhibition. It is an open invitation for viewers to explore a world where the landscape, the sea, and human experience come together in one beautiful story.
