Plakias beach Erreicht von den prächtigen Kotsifou oder Kourtaliotiko Schluchten, ist das Dorf Plakias in Richtung des Zentrums einer großen Bucht an der Südküste von Rethymno, seine in den Armen der Berge eingeschlossen. Ursprünglich ein sehr kleines und ruhiges Fischerdorf, bietet es heute eine Reihe von Hotels, Tavernen, Cafés und Geschäften. Die natürliche Schönheit des Ortes half Plakias, ein renommierter Touristenort zu werden, der jetzt alle Einrichtungen bietet, die sich ein Besucher wünschen kann. Es gehört zur Gemeinde Agios Vassilios. Für diejenigen, die weiter erkunden möchten, gibt es Bücher, die die Bandbreite der lokalen Wanderungen beschreiben. Plakias ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Spaziergänge entlang der Küste zum Strand von Souda, Damnonibeach oder Amoudibeach oder hinauf in die umliegenden Hügel zu anderen Dörfern wie Sellia oder Mirthios, die einen spektakulären Blick auf das Meer bieten. Sie können auch das Boot zum Strand von Preveli nehmen.

Plakias beach Accessed by the magnificent Kotsifou or Kourtaliotiko Gorges, the village of Plakias is set towards the centre of a large bay on the southern coast of Rethymno, its enclosed within the arms of mountains. Originally a very small and quiet fishing village, it now offers a range of hotels, tavernas, cafes and shops. The natural beauty of the place helped Plakias to become a renowned tourist resort now providing all the facilities that a visitor could wish. It belongs to the municipality of Agios Vassilios. For those wishing to explore further afield, there are books available describing the range of local walks. Plakias makes a good starting point for walks along the coast to Souda beach, Damnonibeach or Amoudibeach or up into the encircling hills to other villages such as Sellia or Mirthios, which give spectacular views out to sea. You can also take the boat to Preveli beach.
